When you apply to become a member of ISOC-AU, our registration form requires you to provide us with contact information, including your name and email address. Our constitution requires us to ask this information. You may also provide us with financial information when making a payment (eg. a credit card number or a cheque).
We record and use the contact information from the registration form and use it to contact you and to send you information about ISOC-AU. We occasionally include promotional material from our sponsors in these mailings. Any financial information that you provide is recorded and is used only to bill you for membership and/or renewals.
We may run online or offline surveys and ask members for demographic information (like postcode, age, or other interests). This information helps us understand how to better serve our members.
We do not share information with anyone except (on occasion) our parent organisation: The Internet Society (ISOC). ISOC's privacy statement can be found at: www.isoc.org/help/privacy/.
When you visit our web site
You can visit our Web site and browse without disclosing your personal data. However, we may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our web site. We may also use your IP address in statistical analysis of traffic on our web site.
We do not use cookies on our Web site. We do not automatically log personal data nor do we link information automatically gathered through our web site with personal data about specific individuals.
Public Forums: We make online public forums available to our members and to casual visitors to our web site. Public Forums including email mailing lists and Internet Relay Chat. Please remember that any information that is disclosed on these Public Forums becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information.
We do not collect or use personal data for any purpose other than we have indicated in this document.
If we wish to use your personal data for new purposes, outside of the scope of what we have set out in this document we will contact you to make you aware of our intent.
Whenever we provide you an opportunity to opt in to receiving communications from us we also provide you an opportunity to opt-out. We also record that you gave us permission to communicate.
While no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100 percent secure, we take measures designed to protect the data transmitted to us.
Access to our databases, including the member database and system administration logs is restricted to authorized personnel. Online transactions of a sensitive nature, e.g. credit card numbers, are protected by secure browser connections.
Our site supports use of secure socket layer (SSL) encryption technology to encrypt your personally identifiable information prior to transmission over the Internet. Users whose browsers do not support SSL encryption are encouraged to contact us by phone or in writing.
All our employees and data processors, who have access to, and are associated with the processing of personal data, are obliged to respect the confidentiality of our visitors' personal data.
Your personal data will not be disclosed to State institutions and authorities except if required by law or other regulation.

We reserve the right to refuse to provide our visitors with a copy of their personal data, but will give reasons for our refusal. We do, however, allow you to challenge our decision to refuse to provide you with a copy of your personal data.
